Biography

 

Ingrida Barrow (née Daktere) 


Ingrida began her music studies under the tutelage of Raita Krilova at the age of five before attending the Jazeps Medins Music School in her hometown of Riga, Latvia. She continued her music studies at the Jazeps Medins College under Gunta Boža before progressing to the Jazeps Vitols Academy of Music studying under Professor Ventis Zilberts, obtaining a Bachelors degree in 1997. 

In 2001 she graduated with a Master’s degree of Art specializing in piano from the Jazeps Vitols Academy. She enhanced her studies in 1996 and 1997 at the Conservatoire de Musique de Luxembourg under Professor Beatrice Rauchs and Carlo Jans before being personally tutored in Toronto by the famous Canadian/Latvian pianist, Mr Arthur Ozolins. 

In her career she has performed concerts in Latvia, Estonia, Belgium, Luxembourg, Norway, Sweden, Ukraine, Canada, United States, Switzerland and Great Britain. To date, she has made recordings at the Latvian Radio Studio, Luxembourg Radio Studio, CBC Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto, Canada and has also written a published biography about her mentor, Mr. Arthur Ozolins. Ingrida has enjoyed concert collaborations with a number of great musicians: flautist Ieva Pudane, soprano Evita Zalite, bass Krišjanis Norvelis and tubist Janis Retenais and pianists Arthur Ozolins and Eduards Grieznis.
